Shuffleboard Table Dimensions and Room Size
Every length, every width, and the one measurement that decides which board you can buy.
How these picks were made: from published manufacturer specifications, governing-body standards and the room arithmetic - not from first-hand use. We have not played on these tables. Read the method.

The dimensions
| Length | Playfield width | Cabinet width | Height | Minimum room |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| 9 ft | ~16-20 in | ~28-30 in | ~30 in | 13 ft |
| 12 ft | ~20 in | ~30 in | ~30 in | 16 ft |
| 14 ft | ~20 in | ~30 in | ~30 in | 18 ft |
| 16 ft | ~20 in | ~30 in | ~30 in | 20 ft |
| 18 ft | ~20 in | ~31 in | ~30 in | 22 ft |
| 20 ft | ~20 in | ~31 in | ~30 in | 24 ft |
| 22 ft (tournament) | 20 in | ~31-33 in | ~30 in | 26 ft |
Note what does not change: width and height are effectively constant across every length. A 22-foot tournament board is the same width as a 9-foot home board. That is why shuffleboard fits rooms nothing else fits - you are only ever buying length.
How to measure
- Find the longest uninterrupted wall run in the room. Uninterrupted means no door swing, no window that opens inward, no radiator, no stair stringer.
- Measure it at 30 inches off the floor - the cabinet height. A wall that is clear at the floor is often not clear at waist height.
- Subtract 4 feet (2 feet of player space at each end).
- Round down to the nearest length sold. Never round up.
- Check the width: you need the cabinet's roughly 30 inches plus at least 2 feet 6 inches of walking room on the open side.
Weight and the route in
A 12-foot board's playfield alone is typically 200 to 300 pounds of solid hardwood, and it arrives in one piece because it has to be flat. A 12-foot rigid object does not turn a stair landing. Measure the route - including the diagonal at every corner - before ordering, exactly as you would for slate.
This is the most common delivery failure in this category: the room is fine and the hallway is not.
