The Best Folding Ping Pong Tables
Every full-size table folds. The question is how big it is afterwards, and whether it will get through your door.
How these picks were made: from published manufacturer specifications, governing-body standards and the room arithmetic - not from first-hand use. We have not played on these tables. Read the method.

Folding is the feature people buy and then never use, because nobody checks the folded dimensions before ordering. This page is about those dimensions.
What a folded table actually measures
A full-size table folds into two halves standing vertically, face to face, on a wheeled frame. The result is around 5 feet wide (the table's own 5-foot width), 5 to 6 feet tall, and 1 foot 6 inches to 2 feet 6 inches deep depending on the undercarriage.
That is three measurements, and all three matter:
- Width, 5 ft. It does not fit through a standard 30 or 32-inch doorway facing forwards. It has to turn, which needs a wider hallway than the door.
- Height, 5-6 ft. Fine under any ceiling, but it will not go under a stair soffit or a low basement duct.
- Depth, up to 2 ft 6 in. This is what decides whether it tucks against a wall or juts into the room.
Castors are not a detail
A folded table weighs between 150 and 300 pounds, and all of that sits on four small wheels. Cheap castors flat-spot, seize, and gouge a finished floor. Locking castors stop the table drifting during play, which matters because an unlocked table absorbs the energy of every hard shot by moving an inch.
If the table will cross a carpeted basement, check the wheel diameter too. Small hard wheels on carpet are a two-person shove.

The picks

#1 · Folding alone
STIGA Advantage Indoor Table Tennis Table
The default family table: a full-size folding indoor table with STIGA's Quickplay assembly, aimed at first-time buyers.
The fold mechanism is the product here. If a table takes two people to fold, it will not get folded, and then you own a permanent 9 by 5 foot object. This one does not.
- What works
- One person can fold and unfold it
- Playback position for solo practice
- Castors roll on a finished floor
- What does not
- Still roughly 5 ft wide and 5 ft tall folded
- Entry-level top

#2 · A table that gets moved weekly
JOOLA Inside 15 Indoor Table Tennis Table
A 15 mm top with a playback position so one person can practice alone. The thickness number is the whole spec conversation.
Locking castors are the detail that separates a table you roll aside from a table you shove. If the room is shared and the table moves often, pay for the castors.
- What works
- Locking castors stop the table creeping in play
- 15 mm top with a usable playback mode
- What does not
- Heavier than entry tables
- Folded height needs a clear ceiling run

#3 · When folding is not small enough
JOOLA Tetra 4-Piece Ping Pong Conversion Top
Four panels that turn a pool table into a table tennis table and stack behind a door afterwards. The storage story is the product.
A folded table is a refrigerator. Four flat panels are a stack against a wall. If your storage problem is a narrow space rather than a corner, this solves it and a folding table does not.
- What works
- Stacks genuinely flat
- Fits behind a door or down the side of a garage
- What does not
- Needs a pool or dining table underneath
- Panel seams are real

#4 · Converting a pool table
STIGA Table Tennis Conversion Top
A two-piece conversion top with a net. Lands on top of a pool table's rails, so check your rail height before you order.
Two larger panels rather than four smaller ones - fewer seams to play across, a bigger object to store. Check your pool table's rail height before ordering, because the top rests on the rails.
- What works
- Fewer seams than a four-piece
- Fast to fit and remove
- What does not
- Two large panels are awkward for one person
- Rail height compatibility matters
Playback mode: useful, with a caveat
Playback folds one half vertical so you can hit against it alone. On a rigid table it is genuinely good practice. On a flexible table the vertical half wobbles with each ball and the rebound becomes random, which teaches nothing. If solo practice is the point, buy the rigidity rather than the feature.
How these were chosen
On published folded dimensions, fold mechanism (one-person versus two), castor specification and the alternatives available when a folded table is still too big. We have not handled these tables.
